{ lately }

I haven't taken many pictures lately and now I regret it!  I've been hooked on instagram, so I've taken snapshots here and there, but it's not the same as taking pictures intentionally with my regular camera.   Pictures seem more thoughtful and important if I actually had to locate my camera to take them!  I've got to get back in the groove.  Until then, here are some of our recent instagram pics.

Anna Grace makes herself scarce now that she's 12, but I promise she's still around!  She's hanging out in her room and doing her own thing most of the time.  I remember doing that when I was in 7th grade...talking on the phone (and having to answer call-waiting in case someone called for my parents!) and listening to my cassette tapes!  Lee, the other kids and I are definitely not as cool as we used to be....or maybe we never were.  Ha!  :)

{ Book Character Day }

The little girls had a fun Friday.  Their school was having a Literacy Kickoff, so the kids were encouraged to dress like a book character.

I took Kacey, of Kacey's Poodle Skirt, and Junie B. Jones, from the fun Junie B. Jones series, to school on Friday.  Don't they look cute?

The girls and their school mates had a parade through the school and then did some work in their classrooms on the books that they chose.  Such a fun way to encourage reading.  I think Friday was their favorite day of the year so far!

Now happy about a looong weekend!  :)

{ Little Girls Weekend }

The girls had a great weekend together and we did some of their favorite things!  Anna Grace was on a field trip to Atlanta and Harrison was having some boy time with Cameron, so we took the opportunity to do some fun things that 9 year olds like to do!

We started out with a trip to the movies to see Hotel Transylvania on Friday night.  Cute movie!  We loved it!

We did a little shopping Saturday morning and stopped for lunch at Olive Garden....their choice!  We even got dessert!  :)

Throughout the weekend we played Apples to Apples.  They LOVE this game.  Lee and I took turns being the judge, so they thought it was extra fun.

These two don't get much alone time, so I think they really thought it was a treat!  Lee and I enjoyed it too!

{ Harrison - the special person of the day }

Harrison's Tiger Time teacher (reading/language arts teacher, for those of you not in Saltillo!) does fun things in her class.  Harrison thinks so anyway!  Each day a different student is chosen to be the "special person" for the day.  The most recent SP activity involved preparing a circle map with information about Harrison and then the students used the circle map to write notes about him that they used to make a "quilt."  Sorry for all the quotation marks!  :)

Here's Harrison with this circle map.  Are your kids using circle maps for learning these days?

I just noticed the vacuum in the background....please ignore! :)

Here he is with his quilt.  It's basically index cards taped to colored paper, but sounds more special when you call it your quilt!
Now for the cute/funny part.  The kids wrote, and some even illustrated, things about Harrison.  Keep in mind, this wasn't graded for spelling!
Harrison is quiet.  He is always listening.  (ha!)

Harrison is fast.  He runs fast because God made him like that.

Harrison is kind.  He always helps me when I need his help.
I think he and Kennedy were helping each other too much...they have since been separated!  :)

Harrison is a good listener.  He knows everything.

Harrison is funny.  He always makes people laugh.
Harrison is fast.  He can run fast.

So sweet!  I love first grade class work.  H was pretty proud of all the compliments too!  He especially likes hearing that he "runs fast!"  Such a boy!

Happy Weekend, all!

{ dress shopping }

Anna Grace has her Homecoming dance coming up next weekend, so we went to look for a dress.  She tried on just a few and made a selection quickly.

Love it!  She said the girls at her school are accessorizing with glitter Vans shoes, so she's got some black ones in mind.  Can't wait to see it all together!
