{ Easter Eggs }

The kids still love dying eggs every Easter.  I hope this is a tradition they'll always enjoy.  I  boil LOTS of eggs!

We had some monogram stickers this year, so personalized some of them.  

Harrison wanted his picture with the famous brown egg, just like Papa D used to make.  You can't really tell how brown it is in this picture, but it's not pretty!  Papa D would be so proud.

Aren't they pretty?  Harrison tried to make the brown one look better by adding green glitter. It didn't help.  Ha!  We had a great time working on these eggs together.  So much fun!

{ Worry Doll }

Emma Taylor made a worry doll out of an old sock in her art class.  They work on projects year round, but normally they don't get to bring them home.  It's my understanding that they'll bring home their portfolios at the end of the school year.

Here's Emma Taylor's worry doll.    

She brought the sock from home and then shopped the art room's stash of fabric and other embellishments to create the doll's face and her cute outfit.  The kids even did all the sewing themselves!  Sounds like a fun project to me.  She loved it!

{ Bottled Up Buoyancy }

Emma Taylor just completed her 6th grade science project.  It's been an ongoing process for months, so she'd finished the written assignment before Christmas.  The final part, the visual that is presented to the class, is due on Monday so we decided to wrap it up last night.  I'm not a fan of science projects, so I'm thankful she actually enjoyed it!

She made a submarine model and tested to see if the sub would go below the surface with more or less water in it.

So happy that project is DONE.   Wheew!

In other news, I'm ready to move to Jamaica.  For. Good.

Spring, please hurry!

UPDATE:  Emma Taylor got her grade today and she wanted me to be sure to add that she made a 100 on her project.  Yay!  So proud!  :)

{ Mr. Harrison is Embarrassin'! }

Harrison and I completed a story board for his school's reading fair last week.  He read and loved the book, Mr. Harrison is Embarrassin'!, so that's the book he chose to display for the reading fair.  We had fun doing this project together, though I didn't get any pictures of the process.

After he completed the board, he had to present it to the judges and answer questions.  He did really well and earned a 3rd place ribbon in the family category.

He was pretty excited!  Not that you can tell from this picture.  This picture is SO Harrison!  :)

{ His Halloween Faves }

Harrison wrote a journal entry at school explaining what he likes best about Halloween.  He makes me laugh!

He also created this pumpkin with oil pastels in art class.  It was for sale at the fall festival last week and I couldn't pass it up!

Harrison also insisted that we bid on his class project in the silent auction.  We were the lucky bidders and came home with this cool lazy susan.  Harrison is thrilled!  :)

{ Pumpkins }

The kids really don't seem to enjoy carving pumpkins anymore.  They prefer painting pumpkins so much more and that's soooo much easier, so that's what we do.  Actually that's what the girls prefer to do.  Harrison didn't want to slow down from playing to paint with us and Lee was watching a football game, so he passed on our project too!  I asked Harrison if he wanted to paint his pumpkin today too and got a big "NO."  I guess it's just become a girl tradition!

We started with such pretty pumpkins.  It was almost a shame to paint them!

We have Harry Potter, a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle and a sprinkled donut.
