Harrison's birthday party isn't until later this month, but he opened his birthday present from us on his actual birthday.  He got a new Nintendo DSi XL and he loved it!

He's already playing away on his new game.  The smile says it all!

birthday boy! :)

It's so hard to believe that my baby is officially 5 years old at 7:31am!  He sure does make life fun!
We celebrated with his class at school yesterday.  Harrison spotted some dog cookies at the Cookie Company while we were at the mall, so that's what he decided to share with his friends.  He loved them!
I bet their parents were thrilled...the kids were covered with chocolate frosting!
silly boys!
Harrison wasn't really sure what to think about turning 5.  I think he thought he'd wake up this morning and be a totally different boy.  He was taking a bath last night and I said, "This will be the last bath you'll take while you're still 4."  He said, "When I get up tomorrow will I know how to wash all my parts all by myself!"  :)

He definitely likes the idea of being "big!"  When I tell him I don't want him to grow up he says, "But Mommy, even when I'm big, you can still say I'm your baby!"  Sweet boy, he definitely knows what I want to hear.

Happy 5th Birthday, Harrison!  We love you!

spaghetti pie

I bought a new red pie plate at Target this weekend, so I needed to find something yummy to make in it.  I found a variation of this spaghetti pie online and adapted it to meet our needs...and ingredients we had on hand!  This recipe makes alot, so a nice deep pie plate is necessary!

Ingredients
1 pound spaghetti or other pasta (I used egg noodles!)
1/2 stick of butter
parmesan cheese to taste
1 pound lean ground beef
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
garlic powder to taste
1 (26 ounce) jar pasta sauce
1 cup sour cream
1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese (softened)
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

Directions
1.  Cook pasta according to directions and drain.  Add 1/2 stick butter and desired amount of parmesan cheese and mix until butter melts.

2.  Brown ground beef.  Drain and return to skillet with salt, pepper, garlic powder and pasta sauce until heated through.

3.  In a small bowl combine sour cream and cream cheese and set aside.

4.  Coat a deep pie plate (or 9x13 dish would work fine) with cooking spray and add the cooked spaghetti mixture.

5.  Spread the cream cheese mixture over spaghetti, next add the meat mixture and top with mozzarella cheese.

6.  Cover and bake for 25 minutes at 350 degrees. Uncover and bake for 5 more minutes until the cheese is bubbly.

This spaghetti pie was really good on this cold, snowy day.  I got a thumbs up from everyone!  Lee liked this recipe alot....reminded him alot of the ziti that we all love!

We are home for the second snow day of the week and everyone's getting a little stir crazy!  I hope the kids will be back at school tomorrow, but if they are I'll be surprised.  The temps aren't supposed to be above freezing until Friday.

To help pass the time, we're headed back out to play in the snow!  :)

Happy 8th Birthday to our sweet Sarah!  Can she seriously be 8?!

I love these pictures we took at EPCOT.

The party is planned for later this month, so there's more fun to come for this birthday girl!

Hope you have a fun birthday!  We love you!

back to reality

Happy Belated New Year!

We're getting back to the grind this week and it's been a little tough.  We all liked vacation time better!  The kids started back to school today and all seemed to have a great time being back with their friends and talking about what Santa brought.  Getting up this morning was a totally different story though....I actually put Emma Taylor's clothes on while she was still lying in bed....and she was in bed early last night.  Pitiful!

The kids had fun this afternoon playing with the American Girl baking station and treats that Santa brought.

getting the party set up
and yes, Harrison needs a haircut....has an appointment tomorrow!
dolls, dogs...they're all welcome at this party
Here are the girls with the Dorothy dolls Granna bought them for Christmas.  Harrison is posing with, Jack, the new puppy he bought with his Build-A-Bear gift card from Memaw.  They love them!
Aren't these cupcakes adorable?
I like the treats on Elizabeth's plate too!
Now I'm wishing I had a real cupcake!  :)
