getting our decorate on!

Decorating the tree is one of the kids favorite traditions during the holidays!  They love the lights, seeing their new ornament for the first time, looking at their ornaments from previous years and even checking out the ornaments that Lee and I had when we were kids.  They really love everything about it!  I love it too...everyone in one space having fun!

Here are the new ornaments for 2011.  Cute stuff!
The fun begins!

Finding the perfect spot for her ornament!
He LOVES his new monster truck ornament!
Season's Treatings.....part of AG's collection!  I just love these!
Anna Grace is checking for her name on Santa's list!
She loves her gingerbread houses!

They had a great time decorating the tree!  Harrison actually continued decorating and re-decorating the tree all night.  So much fun!

thankful always

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving this year.  We started with a trip to Karen's in Red Bay and finished the day at Aunt Fay's house in Fulton.  The food was fantastic and seeing everyone was even better!

Neither of us remembered our camera, so we didn't get even one picture.  Boo!  Mom took some at Karen's, so I swiped some of hers.  :)

Here's Ty, Cameron, Josh, Sam, Emma Taylor, Jake and Harrison.
We missed the girls.  I'm sure Emma Taylor really did....she was totally outnumbered!

Nobody had a camera at Fay's, but believe me, we had fun!  Anna Grace and Sarah met us there, so all 6 kids had a ball together.

We have a long weekend ahead and are SO thankful for that!  Time to decorate for Christmas!

bright star

Harrison's class had their Thanksgiving Feast in the cafeteria today.

Here is Indian "Bright Star!"
They made necklaces and feathered headbands to wear at the feast!
Harrison is the "door holder" this week.  It's not his favorite job because he's the last child to join the group when they head to recess or other activities. Here he is is taking care of business while his class heads into the library!

The teachers at Saltillo Primary were treated to lunch by the PTO today too, so I helped watch his class while his teachers ate in peace for a change.  I hope they enjoy their week off for Thanksgiving break....they certainly deserve it!

thanksgiving feast

The little girls had a program and Thanksgiving Feast at school today.  It was lots of fun!

Sarah's class did a play and she had quite a few speaking parts.  She did a great job!

Sarah and her classmates spell Pilgrims!
Emma Taylor's class joined in and sang My Country Tis of Thee and a few other songs.
Emma Taylor helped lead the hand motions that went along with each of the songs.  She did a great job too!
After the performance, it was time to eat.  Emma Taylor liked pilgrim hats for dessert!
 Sarah and Daddy
 Emma Taylor and Mommy
We were thankful we were able to spend this time with our girls!

sleepyhead

I sent Harrison up for a nap on Saturday afternoon, but when I went up to check on him he was nowhere to be found.  We searched all the bedrooms, looked downstairs and finally I went back into his room, flipped on the light and found this in the corner...

He'd had a sleepover at Granna and Papa D's, with Cameron, the night before, so he was worn out!

monopoly

The kids love to play monopoly!  They definitely play by their own rules.

And today they didn't even fight!  Yippee for that!  :)

kirby 7/4/1996 - 11/3/2011

Sweet Kirby left us on Thursday morning.  He was 15 years old, so he lived a long happy life.   He brought lots of joy to our family.  Lee and the kids miss him terribly.

This was the last picture taken of Kirby....and he just hopped in because he smelled food in the kitchen!  See him on the right?

At the end of his life he couldn't hear or see much, but he could still smell.  He always knew when something was cooking in the kitchen and he knew if he hung around long enough he'd get a taste.  Scrambled eggs were his favorite!

Goodbye, Kirby.  You were a great dog and friend.  You will be missed!
